Contraindications for Massage

General Contraindications

(Means that massage should be avoided altogether)

  1. Systemic, contagious, and infectious diseases, which include the common cold and fever.
  2. Acute conditions requiring medical attention or first aid
  3. Pregnancy (Because I am not trained in this area, I do not accept pregnant clients, but many massage therapists do, and if done properly massage can relieve a lot of pregnancy symptoms)
  4. Unstable hypertension

Local Contraindications

(Meaning that only the affected areas are to be avoided)

  1. Rheumatoid arthritis 
  2. Deep vein thrombosis 
  3. Aneurism
  4. Frostbite
  5. Open sores or wounds
  6. Recent burn
  7. Varicose veins
  8. Malignancy 
  9. Lymph edema
